Inspired by my emigration experience, Goodbye, Good Luck explores the unexpected struggles of starting over. Moving away from my homeland, I thought I’d easily adapt, but soon found myself yearning for the places I left behind. The initial paradise of Portugal gave way to loneliness, and in Spain, despite its culture of connection, I felt isolated. This painting is my farewell ritual, reminding that every new beginning comes with loss and the challenge of rebuilding one’s sense of self.
